Eighteen years ago, the zany radio characters on Banana Jack Murphy's radio show came to life on a television program entitled, "Myrtle Beach Daze". The program featured Banana Jack Murphy, a local radio personality, but the real star of the show was Myrtle Beach.
Every week, Myrtle Beach Daze would feature local bands, bikini contests, great restaurants and attractions, bikini contests, comedy skits and did we mention, bikini contests? Basically, if it was happening in Myrtle Beach and it was fun, then you got to see it on Myrtle Beach Daze. It showed a side of Myrtle Beach that few people knew existed.
"It was an entertaining program. I still have people talking about the show and it's been off the air since 1995.", says Jack Murphy. He adds, "It was one of the most rewarding projects I ever produced. I've always said, if I had an opportunity to bring that program back to life, I would."
Guess what? It's back!
Myrtle Beach Daze 2.0 will debut soon on Myrtle Beach Video Network with a new host. Genna Patterson will soon be in front of the camera sharing all the fun things to do in Myrtle Beach. From time to time, characters and comedy sketches from the original show will return, but Genna Patterson will be the new face of the show. "I've known Genna for a long time and we've discussed working together, but it wasn't until recently that the stars aligned. I'm excited that she's decided to take the bull by the horns.", says Banana Jack.
Patterson has worked in marketing, advertising and promotion all over the Southeast, most recently in Nashville, Tennessee. She has deep roots in broadcasting and has grown up in the business. Patterson's father, Pat, aka The Racing Guy currently hosts a motorsports radio show on ESPN. Banana Jack, the creator of Myrtle Beach Video Network has also worked with Patterson's father on several projects through the years. He adds, "I've seen Genna grow into this truly amazing young woman. I'm sure she's made her father proud. I know she's going to knock this one out of the park."
Production begins shortly on Myrtle Beach Daze 2.0.
